About Dr. Mohinder P Sambhi

 Dr. Mohinder P Sambhi is a Ludhiana born doctor and hypertension specialist, who spent his career teaching at Indian and US universities. He did his MBBS from Govt. Medical College, Patiala in 1950and went to US in 1953. Dr. Sambhi is now professor emeritus at the School of Medicine, University of California. Dr. Sambhi set up a chair on Indian classical music at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a donation of $1 million. In the memory of his beloved wife of over five decades, Minno who passed away in 2004, he made the second endowment by offering $2 million to John Hopkins University for setting up the Centre of Indian Studies, Washington. Dr. Sambhi has retired into life of reflection and philanthropy and is actively involved in social walfare.

 

Early life & Career

Dr. Mohinder P Sambhi is a Ludhiana born doctor and hypertension specialist, who spent his career teaching at Indian and US universities. He had done his MBBS from Govt. Medical College, Patiala in 1950, went to US in 1953. Dr. Sambhi remained a professor from 1971 to 1994, is now professor emeritus at the David Gaffen School of Medicine, University of California.

 

Contributions

Dr. Sambhi set up a chair on Indian classical music at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a donation of $1 million.
